Azealia Banks can’t seem to keep her mouth shut..EVER! The Harlem native songstress is in the hip hop headlines again, this time because of her opinions about white people and their appropriation of black stereotypes. After her hitting the nerves of artists like T.I, Jim Jones, Iggy Azalea, A$AP Rocky, Rita Ora and Angel Haze, the 23-year-old artist is testing new waters and this time it involves “blue-eyes soul-singers.”
Clearly, the femcee is not a fan of white people in the hip hop industry. She called it “regurgitated and corny.”
“All the things that I’m trying to run away from in my black American experience are all the things that they are celebrating. So if they f**kin’ want them, have them. If they want to be over-sexualized and ignorant every time they open their f**king mouth, then f**king take it.”
Although Banks claims that she is not mad of offended, it’s clear that she is upset about the marginalization of black women in hip hop and the propriety of the industry to keep this image in play; especially since it is now being adapted by the white community. Do you think Banks has a point?
