The Badula Oblongata gave a free concert Friday night in NYC and you probably didn’t know. The legendary neo-soul songstress took her talents to the streets when she decided that she wanted to check another tab off of her bucket list and sing on the street for money.
“I kind of always wanted to see what it would be like to sing for money on the streets,” she said in her personal video. “I’m going to find a good place to stop and do it.”
Considering that her cult fans would surely pay major bills to see the 43-year-old rebel perform one of her big hits like “Window Seat” or “Apple Tree,” it was surprising to discover that she only made $3.60 for her diligence. Amazingly enough, Badu was able to perform without being noticed for her superstardom for approximately 7 minutes. Watch the video below.
