Her style is as unique as her name. Annagjid (Onn-ah-kee) Taylor, better known as, Kee Kee, is a hairstylist who hails from West Philadelphia, and plays no games when it comes to creating natural hairstyles that slay.
Raised by her great-grandmother, she knew that learning how to do hair was a necessity because the elder showed no mercy when it came to combing through Kee Kee’s tresses. “I was so tender headed growing up and she [great grandmother]had no remorse for me,” she shares.
With plenty of practice on her own head, Kee Kee began to realize that she had a knack for doing hair. To hone her craft, she went to school and became an assistant for many years at choice salons. “I then began to do hair in the basement of my parents home, because there is nothing like hands on training,” Kee Kee says.
Now with 15 years under her belt, the 34-year-old stylist has traveled the states doing hair of the stars that include: Tika Sumpter, Karen Civil, Keke Palmer, Nafeesa Williams and many more.
Today, she has found a special niche in natural hair care which she is very passionate about. “Hair care is really important to me. It hurts me to see videos and pictures of women getting a service of extensions and in the before pics her hair is dry, split, or broken,” explains Kee Kee. “We must take care of our hair so that weave is just an option! I want all women to know that this is possible.”
Recently, Kee Kee developed her own hair care line, Shear Genius Collection, that is for all hair types. The advanced hair care line is a mild formula that is sulfate, paraben and alcohol free but according to Kee Kee the most important ingredient is love.
Everything Kee does she does with love. “It was the best decision I’ve ever made. It makes me feel good when I make others feel amazing,” she gloats. “I literally treat each and every strand of each person’s hair like it my very own.”
