After six years, the VH1 Hip Hop Honors is back in a very special way. After the announcement and plans to pay tribute to four of the hottest and greatest female MC’s, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Salt-N-Pepa, and Lil’ Kim, there is more. In addition to honoring the ladies, Billboard exclusively revealed who will be paying tribute to the Queen herself, Queen Latifah. Common, Naughty By Nature, Da Brat, and MC Lyte, among others, will have the privilege to pay such a well-deserved tribute.
Others set to participate in Queen Latifah’s tribute are Rah Digga, Suga T, and Yo-Yo. The legendary trailblazer will also be hitting the stage herself to perform “Ladies First” with Monie Love. Queen is also executive producing the show through her Flavor Unit entertainment company.
Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Trina, Tweet, Keyshia Cole, Raven Symone, Fantasia, and this year’s Hip Hop Honors host Eve will pay homage to Missy Elliott, according Billboard.
The event, VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens, is set to premiere on Monday (July 11th) night at 9:00 PM ET on VH1. The show will take place in New York’s David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.
