Two weeks ago, Miss Jackson released her 11th studio album Unbreakable on her own independent label, Rhythm Nation and it has already made its debut as No.1 on the Billboard charts. This marks her seventh chart topping album making her the third artist to have a number one album in the last four decades (The other two musicians are Bruce Springsteen and Barbara Streisand). Amazingly, Unbreakable shot to number without any promotions. It seems as though Miss Jackson has taken a page out of Queen Bey’s book.
The album has received lots of positive views from both critics and fans. Many people feel that Janet has returned to her classic self. The album is deep and connects with people on a personal level with songs like “Broken Hearts Heal,” where Janet expresses her feelings about the loss of her brother, Michael Jackson. The singer also channeled her feelings towards social issues in the song, “Shoulda Known Better.”
Unbreakable reunites Janet with her longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, while also showing versatility working with contemporary artists including J.Cole and Missy Elliott.
Janet Jackson is currently performing on her world tour, which has sold out. Congrats Janet, we are happy to see you back at the top again!
