Tuesday evening, Donald Trump got the gumption to shun the #BlackLivesMatter movement and it made many people—including myself—and a whole group of social media users pretty upset. Although Trump’s attempt to take the honest and opinionated route in his hope to land the republican presidential candidate role has given him much publicity over the past few weeks, he is very off-putting and quite offensive in most of his ways. Basically, Trump picked the wrong issue to address and instead of making credible and beneficial headlines, the millionaire business man is making Instagram memes.
#BlackLivesMatter is a movement that was created to support and acknowledge the injustices that our black and brown citizens have faced in their attempt to get justice for the extermination of our people. In addition to supporting the families who have wrongfully lost loved ones and have not gotten justice from such circumstances, the movement has spread awareness on an international level and has inspired many people to continue to create change and bring equality to our government’s unjust laws and reason.
The only problem that might be true—concerning the movement—is that #BlackLivesMatter may spark some nerves and lead to a revolutionary shift of power between races―radical, but possible. It’s safe to say that Trump needs to slow down on patronizing the most popular hashtags and worry about selling himself as a viable presidential candidate.
