Today’s PYNK Girl Of The Day is Sapphira Martin, the creator of the lifestyle subscription box, SassBoxx, where they provide products and services from local beauty brands run by women of color. Martin is kicking off her annual SassBrunch series, celebrating and spotlighting 18 of today’s elite millennial women. This year’s SassBrunch started on April 23rd in Brooklyn, NY and will travel to six other cities. The next location will be in DC July 23rd.
Similar to her mission with SassBoxx, the idea of the SassBrunch series was developed to honor millennial women who have shaped their path to success, in the hopes to empower and inspire other women along the way. The first SassBrunch series honorees included as Denequa Williams, (creator and owner of LIT Brooklyn candles,) Diamond Craig (Founder of Non-Profit Organization; Purposefully Pretty, which promotes mentors and uplifts underprivileged teen girls) and Gia Peppers (On-Air talent for BET.com, Essence.com, NBA Washington Wizards and HOT97)
Inspired by black women owned businesses and sisterhood, Sapphira created SassBoxx combining these two concepts and beliefs, wanting to help black women embrace sisterhood alongside black girl magic. She brought this strong belief with her to the big-screen while on Centric’s Queen Boss. Despite only appearing in one episode, she definitely took it as a learning experience that taught her to buckle down and get sassy with her brand.
Aside from the SassBrunch series and Sassboxx, Sapphira is our PGOTD, because of her passion and commitment to sisterhood. Be on the look out for this hustler, as she plans to bring more ventures like SassBoxx to a community near you.
