Now that the holidays are over, spring will be right around the corner. Why not switch up your makeup looks, to help us deal with this bitter cold and freshen up our looks. Spring reminds us of pastel and earthy tones, and on the spring 2014 runways observers seen everything from fresh and natural faces to neon orange lips. New Yorkfashion week’s makeup artists have taught us how to keep up with the season’s hottest beauty trends by teaching how to recreate the five most popular in our own bathrooms.
1. Orange Lips
At the DSquard2 spring 2014, models walked down the runway in bold super- shiny neon orange lips. Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury paired this not so easy lip color with a neutral face. She used the bare minimum on the models by just bronzing the face and using a coffee-colored shadow on the lids.
2. “Natural” Look
Skin will be golden, shimmery, and more “pumped up” for this spring. The 1970’s were in full effect at the Donna Karen show and they looked refreshed and bronzed. Emphasizing what nature gave them; Tilbury dusted the model’s faces with MAC face and body foundation, amber blush, and bronzed smokey eyes.
3. Blue Eyeshadow
Rocking a stunning statement lid at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show, models strutted down the catwalk in bold and bright royal blue shadow that went all the to the lash line to crease. Similar to the Marc Jacobs look, Badgley Mischika’s model wore a more powdery blue look. Both looks were completed with nearly bare skin and nude lips.
4. Cat Eyes
Taking a new take on a classic look, over at Emerson’s spring 2014 fashion show, onlookers witnessed purple cat eyeliner instead of black. Lead makeup artist for Bobbi Brown , Tia Hebron, created this look. Usually you would see a pop of color through lips or blush but instead she focused on the eyes and not through shadow either.
Nude graced our eyes again but this time it was on the nails. Following the all “natural” look, nude nails always deliver when you just want a simple look. Seen during fashion week on celebrities like Jessie J, nude can be the perfect alternative before summer’s bold bright come back. Try a nude that matches your skin tone for a more simple and natural look or if unable to find a matching nude, try a sheer pink or peachy tone.
We all know that trends have and will continue to repeat, reinvent, and resurface, but this year they emerged into newer alternatives. Makeup artist used their techniques by combining classic/retro with modernity and gave us looks that never looked the same. Instead of black cat eyeliner we got bright purples and instead of the bright Old Hollywood rep lip they surfaced neon orange. Giving you a new and fresher way to do your makeup.
