When it comes to picking a strong woman to represent your brand, John Hardy got it right when he added model and activist, Adwoa Aboah, to his advertising campaign.
If you’re not familiar with this freckle-faced beauty, then let us catch you up. This 25-year-old, girl power activist has graced many catwalks with her presence including Burberry, Versace’s Versus, and most recently strutted down the runway for fashion’s “It Girl” Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma.
She is also the founder of Gurls Talk which is an online platform for young women to express their feelings on topics that they feel affect their everyday lives. Whether it is discussing mental illness or the lack of diversity in the fashion industry, whatever the range of change that needs to be made in society, Adwoa is ready to tackle those topics head on and without apology.
John Hardy’s new “Made for Legends” advertising campaign and brand platform, in tandem with the brand’s first collection from Creative Director Hollie Bonneville Barden. “Made for Legends” celebrates dramatic, powerful and inspiring women, as brought to life by strong females of character and substance, demonstrating the power of jewelry as a means of expression.
With Adwoa’s authentic (and mesmerizingly deep) voice in activism and awareness, she leads the campaign with purposefulness, passion and fearlessness. She genuinely resonated with the brand’s new platform. “Vulnerability to me is pure strength. Self-love, that’s really powerful– I love the idea of gifting yourself,” she expresses. When we asked her about her decision to participate in the campaign, she told us that jewelry is something she just can’t do without. “I cover myself in jewelry, I’m obsessed. Jewelry feels like it has got some soul, it’s not afraid to be different. It’s legendary.”
The campaign was shot by celebrated photographers Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi with make-up artist Gucci Westman, all under the creative direction of MATTE Projects.
