Pynk Updates

#PynkDoesEssenceFest Guide Like a Local

It’s been a year that quick? Essence Festival is back again down here in the Big Easy and as usual there are sooooo many things going on. As a resident for the past three years I’ve had so many people come in town and ask me where to go and what to do. Well I’ve come up with a list of places to check out around town that won’t keep you stuck downtown with tourists all weekend.

Because of course y’all are going to be hungry. It’s New Orleans! Here are some Black-owned restaurants to patronize outside the French Quarter.

Neyow’s Creole Café

The Praline Connection

Willie Mae’s Scotch House

Li’l Dizzy’s Cafe

Dooky Chase Restaurant

The Half Shell

Because you might have forgotten a pair of shoes at home for a party, want to visit a pop up shop or support a local business.

Lakeside Mall (Metairie)

Oakwood Mall (Westbank)

Paradigm Pop Up Shop

Zuvaa Pop Up Shop

Shops on Magazine Street

Shea Moisture Pop Up Shop

Because you came to NOLA to turn up. I’ve also included hot spots where us locals will be at this weekend. (Not on Bourbon Street!)

Blavity House

BET Networks Festival Weekend Takeover

The Saint Heron House

Essence Day Party Series

The Breakfast Club Day Party

Tank and the Bangas at Blue Nile

The Tipping Point at Dragon’s Den

Because being sober is not a part of your plans this weekend.

Victory Bar

Frenchmen Street

Balcony Bar

There are many other places to check out that I didn’t list and I may update the page throughout the weekend. The best way to know what’s going on is follow me on Instagram and Snapchat: @blacknbklyn and Pynk’s social media pages as well. #PynkDoesEssenceFest
