Watching some classic MTV moments brought back memories like, Erykah Badu‘s ‘Unplugged’ in 1997 or the many timeless days on ‘The TRL Decade.’ We can reminisce and take a trip all the way back down memory lane now. The revolution has begun again with MTV Classic. Yesterday, August 1st marked the launch of the takeover. MTV Classic has taken the place of VH1 Classic. The 80s, 90s, and early 2000s classics are back! Your 90s favorites like, Beavis & Butt-Head and Daria are back like they never left. The re-brand was also launched on the official birthday of MTV, in which they debuted 35 years ago on Aug. 1st.
“MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and—alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live, and mtvU– rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core,” Sean Atkins, President of MTV, said in a press release on July 28th.
MTV Classic will catch you bobbing your head and makes you remember what an era the 90s really was. You find yourself forgetting that some of these shows and songs existed until you see it back in action. Total Request Live and MTV Unplugged are just to name a few, even some early 2000s action with Laguna Beach and Clone High. The network even spins us off with “Run’s House,” “Pimp My Ride,” “Cribs,” “Punk’d,” and “Jackass.” We can even binge watch, “The Real World” and “Road Rules.” They have an entire line-up and we are here for that!
