#PYNKPolitics: SC Lawmakers Vote To Take Down The Confederate Flag, Today

About a week and a half ago, we experienced a brave, young activist from Charlette, North Carolina—Bree Newsome—taking down the Confederate Flag in South Carolina and today; thanks to couragious individuals like herself and fellow activist James Tyson, the decision has been made to remove the flag from its Capitol grounds. In a 94-20 vote, South Carolina lawmakers made the decision that the flag will be removed. Following the Charleston massacre, politicians, including the South Carolina governor, Nikki Haley and President Obama, have called for the flag’s removal from the Capitol, where it’s flown since 1961. Bree proves that perseverance and good will always prospers over hatred. Watch the full interview with Democracy Now as Bree speaks about her background and what inspired her to fulfill this deed. As Bree and James face three years in prison, the great debate has begun of whether or not Bree did the “wrong thing,” but although she did break the law; the law can be unjust sometimes. We are truly inspired by Bree’s selfless act of fearlessness. #PYNKGirlApproved
