How did you get into your field?

I went to Borough of Manhattan Community College which was the first school that I went to. I majored in communications and from there I graduated and went to City College and majored in the same major, which was communications. After I graduated from City College I was lucky enough to get a job where I had my first internship which was BET. I worked for a show called the “Black Carpet”. At the time I was working with a producer named Carlos King who was a BET executive producer and now a producer for various shows on BRAVO. He does “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and he’s doing Candi’s wedding. At the time he was transferring from being a PA to being an AP when I started as an intern. While I was there he informed that when he leaves BET he wanted me to have his position, and I was like “oh okay” because they called me their star intern while I was there. So after he left, he kept his word and he called me and said “look I’m leaving to go on to bigger and better things and I would love for you to take my job.Everyone here on the team already know you so it would be organic for you to start here.” I sent in my resume and had an interview and then they hired me. I became the producer that I am today because I got a lot of experience from BET.

Describe your day-to-day?

My day-to-day consists of this; I work Monday-Friday at the Wendy Williams show. I start my day at 7:30 in the morning. I produce various segments at the Wendy Williams show. One of the segments I predominately produce is “Ask Wendy”, “Eye Candy”, “Instaglam”, and occasionally some celebrity chat segments. Whenever I’m producing “Ask Wendy” it requires me to go in the audience holding area, being very vocal, speaking to all the audience members and letting them know Wendy considers her audience members as her co-hosts and just explaining to them the importance of them participating and filling out the forms and writing down their drama related questions. It requires a lot of skills on my part to get these people to feel comfortable with literally spilling out their life to me and letting me know their juicy drama, yet I’m able to make that person feel comfortable enough to tell me that they had an affair with their best friend’s husband and they need Wendy’s advice on how to get through the situation. I realize that my personality makes people so comfortable to be around me that’s why I’m really good at producing “Ask Wendy” because I’m able to get people to open up to me and literally tell me their deep down gritty secrets that make for good TV. So that’s one aspect of my job and afterwards there is a lot of research I have to do as well as coming up with creative content for the show.

How did Polish Angels come about?

Polished Angels actually came about because last year at my church we were mainly focused on our Christmas cantata. I played the Virgin Mary and there were other people in the congregation that had roles which required us to act and study our lines. My pastor felt that it may have been too overwhelming to be focused on learning lines and songs to sing as a choir at a nursing home which we do every year,so last year our pastor didn’t want us to do that. But a part of me was like, “wow what if the seniors were really looking forward to seeing us and hearing us sing carols they’re going to miss out on that.” I understood my pastors point of view, but I felt like there was something I could do to make a difference and make them still feel happy. So I prayed really hard on it and I really believed that God gave me the vision of Polished Angels; to go to nursing homes and just polish nails. So I was like, “all right I guess I’ll start doing that”. I booked my first event at Bronxwood Nursing Home and went there alone with no team and brought all my polishes. The seniors were so delighted to see me and of course get a free manicure. Next thing you know I was scheduled to leave at 4 o clock pm, but I wound up leaving at 11 o clock that night. From there I posted on Instagram and it just blew up.

How skilled are you in doing manicures?

So I am an amateur when it comes to painting nails. I know how to do the basics. As far as nails art designs I’m not really good in that area, however I am learning because one of my goals is to be a professional nail tech at one point. As of now, Mr. Louis, one of the nail techs that I work with, he’s been teaching me a couple of things here and there. That’s why whenever I book my team, I book a team that I call the beginners, that’s anyone like myself or anyone who just naturally wants to give their time and do something sweet to people like Mr. Louis, who are pros at doing nails. But on a scale of one to ten, ten being the best, I would say that I’m about a five, maybe a six (laughs).

If anyone wanted to get involved with Polished Angels what would be the best way to do that?

Well I have an email address, its called, so anyone that wants to get involved and be apart of my team can just shoot me an email. Of course I would look through their social media, have an interview with them, and just make sure people know that this is bigger than us, it’s for the seniors. Polished. Angels is about understanding that the seniors may say something that is out of line, but they must just take it lightly, smile, go with the motions, and focus on giving them the best manicure you can ever give. Listen to their stories and maybe gain some knowledge from them that you can implement in your own life.

How do you hope to expand Polished Angels?

What I see for Polished Angels maybe a year from now is having a lot more people involved, as well as special guest. That’s my goal, to have special guest involved in my Polished Angels events. As of now, I’m looking to get Sassy involved in the next event. Tahiry is also interested as well, so I’m looking to book an event with her. I am also looking to get more people to donate polish because at the end of the event all seniors get a goody bag that contains nails polish and candy so they can remember us.

What challenges have you faced thus far?

Well because we are in the beginning stages it requires me to do a lot of the nitty-gritty work which is challenging for me to do with all the other things that I have going on.

What is your definition of a PYNK Girls?
