Remember the good old days when songs by female artist were appropriate and still bad ass. Way back when we weren’t calling each other bad b*tches and other strangely offensive terms of endearment. I remember it vividly. Aaliyah’s, Brandy’s and Janet’s weren’t hard to come by and the music was more about being powerful women rather than being over-sexualized and vulgar.
Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy is Mine” is a serious R&B classic for the ladies and it’s certainly exciting to hear that it will be re-recorded by Ariana Grande and Jessie J. Naturally, fans are a bit uneasy with the artist choice, which has resulted in a race discrepancy. Hopefully, the girls just do the 1998 hit justice and the drama fades.
