The last thing you probably heard from Lil Mama was her Breakfast Club interview when Charlamagne Tha God made her cry. Reminiscing on her last solo hit “Lip Gloss,” it was legit to assume that the Brooklyn born rappers’ career was pretty much heading towards a slippery slope. A few months ago; however, we got to see Lil Mama show us why she is the “voice of the youth,” with her freestyle performance for the BET Cypher; joining Detroit Che, Dee-1 and Logic—you can’t front she was pretty impressive and she held her own amongst the other talented three.
Yesterday, the Harlemite took to World Star Hip Hop to premiere her newest single, “Sausage.” The beat is a sample of Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story.” Her lyrics are a combination of throwback classic flows and the new generation of hip hop today; including some inspiration from Run DMC, Wu-Tang, Missy, Mary even Fetty Wap and more. This is definitely a dance track, incorporating some choreography from the past and present. Lil Mama brings her sounds to her old stomping grounds per usual, and instead of hiring professional dancers, using the talent of the people in her community.
