Stylist Reuben Reuel: He’s Got A Lot Up His Sleeve

DSC_1679.NEF Reuben Reuel is definitely not playing around. His clothing has draped the body of Beyonce. When she wore one of his designs on Halloween, with a Coming To America theme, to say the least.  Reuel is a modern, classy twist on varies of prints and culture, that can been worn on any woman . Whether she’s going to a gala, out with the girls  for brunch. Plus you know he has that runway covered.

Reuben’s strong  but gentle character shows in his designs. Pynk was able to catch up with him to chat .

PYNK: You have an extensive history of fashion design.  What is your favorite part about designing for women?

Reuel: I would have to say my favorite part about designing for women is being able to have a larger range of creativity and styling as I would if I designed for men. Women are more daring in fashion and willing to take more risks in style. That is something I admire and appreciate.

Pynk:What is the ultimate vision you have for your brand?  Where do you see it going?

Reuel: My ultimate vision for the brand is to see is grow not only in clothing but also in home goods/housewares. I also see the brand growing by not only using the cotton wax fabric but also other textiles that I love.

Pynk: alot of people question why you use Etsy as your source of selling your clothes.  You’ve stayed loyal to Etsy despite your success.  Do you plan on eventually branching out to your own site or is Etsy home for good? Etsy has been a great source to sell my items and I do have plans to have my own online retail shop. Recently I have teamed with and I have been selling Demestiks New York items there for the past month. It has been successful so far and I am looking to sell with other online retailers as well.

PYNK:Who are your top three celebrities you’d love to design for?

Reuel: Michelle Obama, Oprah, and Tracy Ellis Ross

Pynk:How would you define your brand? Reuel: A brand based on the values of quality made clothing in New York City; a brand that focuses on created new classics and new vintage.

Pynk: What’s next for Reuben Reuel and the Demestiks brand?

Reuel:Currently working on new styles and designs for Spring and Summer…stay tuned.
