#ThinkPYNK: Azealia Banks To Star In Forthcoming RZA-Directed Film

Celebrities Visit SiriusXM Studios - February 9, 2015

The Wu-Tang Clan is famously known as one of the most innovative and influential rap groups of all time. In the 90’s, the renowned and well-respected hip hop team brought originality and unusual artistic expression to the game. Heavily inspired by Kung-Fu and martial arts—after Wu-Tang slowed down in the hip hop scene—the RZA continued his passion for the ancient teachings through film.

In recent news, the RZA is returning to the director’s chair with a new project to add to his resume starring Azealia Banks with Common and Jill Scott as co-stars. Unlike The Man With the Iron Fist, this musical drama chronicles the life of a rapper/college student with dreams of pursuing a career in music—Banks—who enrolls in a poetry class hoping to improve her lyrical skills. Instead the protagonist falls in love with slam poetry, which leads to her to becoming an even better MC than she expected. Coco is rumored to be in theaters in 2016. We are definitely anticipating its release and we hope that a trailer will be dropping soon. #PYNKGirlApproved
