No freaking way!
The world we live in today is completely ridiculous; yet so entertaining. Not only do we give people without talent careers and shove mainstream down the throats of our youngsters, but now we are celebrating narcissism by giving famous people awards for how full of themselves they are. Nonetheless, of course, the Selfie Awards would be hosted by Kim Kardashian-considering she has recently published a book called Selfish. With a society ran by social media, what do you expect? The nominees have not been revealed yet, but here is a list of the awards that will be distributed:
The Beyoncé Award for Waking Up Like This/No-Makeup Selfies
The Ansel Adams Award for Selfie Achievement in Nature
The Mario Testino Fashion Selfie Award
Special Achievement in Cat Selfies
The Lindsay Lohan Award for Achievement in Selfie Editing
The Jen Selter Award for Achievement in Belfies
The Buzz Aldrin Award for Selfie Innovation
The North West Award for Achievement in Children’s Photography
The Ellen DeGeneres Award for Most Celebs in a Selfie
It was only a matter of time before the Selfie Awards were going to debut. With a hashtag that is overused and a cultural phenomenon that will live on as long as we have smart phones, 2015 marks the first ever official award show for this daily activity. Although this event may seem shallow and vain; look on the bright side, at least it’s supporting something minimally positive–self-love. There may be controversy over this futile idea, but people are definitely going to watch it–especially with a host like Kim K. We’re sure you already have an idea of which celebrities are going to be nominated, but here is PYNK’s top 17 choices of socialites that we’d like to see on the forefront.
