African print has always been a cultural phenomenon, holding designs and patterns that date back to sub-Suharan times and beyond where ancient african textiles were discovered. These ancient designs have continually made appearances in high fashion from designers including: Marni, LAMB, Gucci and more luxury European brands.
Most of these textures and designs are derived from West Africa—and over the years—the fabric has become less authentic, but true to the history of its print. This year, we are definitely inspired by the shapes and intricate decors of afrocentric styles. Check out 10 #PYNKGirlApproved afro-designs that will encourage you to be bold this summer.
